for schools

School Music Lessons

BMA provides music lessons for primary schools and high schools across the north west of England, teaching instruments including piano/keyboard, guitar, drums, singing, trumpet and flute to name a few. Our lessons are 20 to 30 minutes in duration but can also be catered to the individual timetable of the school. Here are some of the benefits of working with BMA Music.

Direct Payment Scheme

All payments are made by Direct Debit which ensures a smooth payment process for all involved. No missing cheques or payment chasing (which can make parents feel uncomfortable)

Parent Text Service

We always keep parents informed via text to update on any changes made (sports day, tutor sickness etc)

Rotating Timetable

When possible, BMA have the pupil school lessons on a rotating timetable, this enables pupil’s lessons to not be disrupted at the same point each week.

DBS Cleared

All BMA tutors hold an Enhanced DBS.

Assembly Performances and School Themes

Our school lessons work to both the RSL awards (Rockschool) syllabus and the ABRSM syllabus’, with many pupils entered for exams every year. We can also cater lessons around historical themes or topics if the schools has a particular theme for Christmas/Easter etc

School Reports

All pupils receive a school report and certificate at the end of year to talk about progress, strengths, weaknesses and an overall summary of their year with BMA.

Pop Music Sessions

These lessons are purely about the thrill of playing a song with your friends and hearing how individual guitarists, singers, pianists sounds when you put them all together. These sessions are also available as PPA cover too. We provide the instruments for the school to keep throughout the year to help with extra practice time.

How does this differ from Music Lessons?

This is all about gaining confidence, learning a new skill with new innovative music lessons for class groups. The lessons are catered around chord progressions, melody and rhythm instead of traditional and Classical lessons. These chord progressions allow the children to build up motor skills, muscle memory and performance skills which help build a child’s confidence, social skills and learning abilities due to the accelerated learning process. And with the current situation with covid19 it provides an excellent alternative to Brass and Woodwind classes.

All children will receive a BMA Music workbook, this includes learning support materials, backing tracks and notational lead sheets with theory exercises to a grade 1 standard. Who knows, you may have the next band with the X-Factor in your class!

During the last term of School sessions (inclusive of PPA and Wider Opportunities), the students are set a project of writing a school song to record and perform using skills from during the previous term’s work. This includes writing the lyrics, creating the chord structure and recording the song. Our tutors will also provide a report for the school in the preferred school format. This truly is a wonderful, innovative and modern approach to music education in schools.
